Smoothing Support Shaping Bra in Sand, front view

Smoothing Support Shaping Bra

Support built from a band and a shelf, not from elastane.

SandNoir

Sand, a Sandstone shade. One bath, held short. The lightest dyed shade in the range.

The band does the work and the straps only locate it — which is how a bra actually functions, and why the band here is wide rather than token.

Knitted at a tighter gauge through the underbust, with an encased natural-rubber tape rather than a folded hem, so it returns to length instead of growing into one.

02Construction

Band38 mm encased

Natural rubber tape sealed inside a rib casing — nothing abrades against skin, nothing meets detergent directly.

ShelfDouble-layer

A second full layer of the same rib, not a mesh panel. It compresses rather than lifts.

SeamsFlatlocked

Sewn with organic cotton thread. No overlock ridge under a band.

03Size and fit

  • Close through the body. Between sizes, take the smaller for support and the larger for ease.
  • Rated for low to medium load — Pilates, lifting, walking. Not distance running.

04Care

Wash

Cold, 30°C, inside out, with like colours.

Dry

Flat or on a line. A hot tumble dryer is the one thing that will shorten this garment's life.

Iron

Warm, on the reverse. Cotton takes a press; the rubber in the band does not.

Do not

Bleach, dry clean, or use fabric softener — softener coats the fibre and kills the absorbency you paid for.

05The fibre argument, in miniature

Natural rubber elastic4–8%, band only

Every waistband and every bra band in the range carries a tape of natural rubber, tapped from a tree, encased inside a knitted cotton channel so it never touches skin and never meets detergent directly.

The graded bra shelf38 mm, encased

A shelf bra in most garments is a strip of the same jersey folded over and stitched down. It supports nothing; it exists so the garment can be sold without one.

Rib-knit recoveryStructural, not chemical

Recovery is a fabric's ability to return to its original dimension after being stretched. Elastane does it chemically. A rib knit does it structurally — the fabric is folded into itself at the loop level, so stretching it unfolds a pleat rather than extending a fibre.

Band and strap grading3 — band, shelf, strap

Most activewear is graded by scaling one pattern up and down. It is fast, it is cheap, and it is why a 3XL so often looks like an XS that has been photocopied at 160%.
